U.S. President Donald Trump angrily expressed his discontent with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Sunday (May 25) after Moscow's largest airstrike on Ukraine to date.

"What the hell happened to him? He's killing a lot of people," Trump told reporters in New Jersey, calling Putin "completely insane" on social media.

"He’s gone completely CRAZY! He's killing a lot of people unnecessarily, and I'm not just talking about soldiers," Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had said Washington’s silence on the recent Russian attacks was emboldening Putin and called for "strong pressure" — including tougher sanctions — on Moscow.

At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured in Ukraine on Sunday night after Russia fired 367 drones and missiles, the largest number in a single night since Putin's full-scale invasion in 2022.

On Sunday, the Ukrainian capital was attacked by Russian drones for the third consecutive night, according to the city's military administration chief.

In a post on Telegram, Timur Tkachenko said the attacks caused damage in the Dnipro district, but no deaths were reported.

Air raid sirens warning of drones and missiles were still sounding across many regions of Ukraine on Monday morning (May 26).

At least three people, including a child, were injured in Russian attacks on Kharkiv in the northeast, said the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump said of Putin: "I've known him for a long time, always got along well with him, but he's launching rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like that one bit."
