🖤 Black Poison Swirl Candy Apples Recipe
Servings: 6 apples
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes (plus cooling)

🍎 Ingredients:
6 small to medium apples (Granny Smiths are great)

6 wooden sticks (or twigs for a spooky touch)

2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

3/4 cup water

1/2 tsp black gel food coloring

1/4 tsp purple or red gel food coloring (for swirl effect)

Candy thermometer

Non-stick spray or parchment paper

🔪 Instructions:
Prep the Apples

Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax (dip in boiling water for 5 seconds, then dry well).

Insert sticks firmly into the top of each apple.

Set apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray.

Make the Candy Coating

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.

Stir until sugar dissolves, then stop stirring.

Attach candy thermometer and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Cook to Hard Crack Stage

Let the mixture boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C) – the “hard crack” stage.

Remove from heat immediately.

Color the Mixture

Quickly add black food coloring and stir gently.

Add a small amount of purple or red food coloring and swirl just once or twice for a marble effect (don’t overmix).

Dip the Apples

Working quickly and carefully, tilt the pot and dip each apple, swirling to coat.

Let excess drip off and place apples back on the parchment paper to harden.

Cool and Serve

Allow apples to cool and harden completely (about 20–30 minutes).

For an extra spooky look, lightly dust with edible shimmer or serve with dry ice fog!

⚠️ Tips & Safety:
Be extremely cautious — melted sugar is very hot and can cause severe burns.

Use a candy thermometer to avoid under- or overcooking the sugar.

Wear gloves or use tongs to dip the apples for extra safety.
