Three Presidential TFR's Not Gonna Stop Us From Billie Eilish at MSG!

Day 7 Boston - New York. Take a midwest IFR trained pilot, stick him on the east coast, watch hilarity ensue! Another day of Epic Trek 2024, another cluster of a flight (mostly the pilot), another TFR (3 of them actually), no planned bucket list Hudson SVFR flight, and my simple IFR flight plan modified to "east coast" standards. What could go wrong? Check it out.

Despite my efforts, things didn’t go as planned.Filed IFR route was amended twice by Boston Center, I screwed up the read back (twice), waited on the ground engine running for 45 min for a take-off clearance, didn’t answer the rapid fire east-coast ATC quick enough on the climb out and got scolded by Boston. 2.5 hrs later we finally made it to KSMQ but the rental car was not waiting for us at @Fly_with_Bruno home airport. But hey...at least all the cameras worked this flight, mostly.

A crazy cross-wind landing, climb into our rental car and head into Manhattan, check into our swanky hotel, and make our way down to Madison Square Garden (MSG) to reveal the big surprise to my youngest - front row tix to Billie Eilish!

Meanwhile, the adults enjoyed a day out in the big city complete with poignant moment at the 9/11 memorial, proper NYC steak dinner, smoked whiskey cocktails at the world-famous Whistle Pig pub, and a neon-drenched tour of Time Square at night.
