The last lesson ended with Romans 6, which speaks of incorporating the Resurrection power of Christ to walk in newness of life after having been water baptized, leaving the ‘old man’ behind in that state of death. We also spoke on how a follower of Christ can glory in tribulations because we know tests, trials, and temptations are opportunities to proof us, mature us, and build our character, capacitating us to attain unto the greater inheritance that Paul spoke of striving for in Philippians 3:10-14… “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

We continue here in 1st Peter 1:3-9…
3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

Now with added commentary…
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope (confident expectation {Romans 8:24} of the salvation of the soul, Verse 9 says) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (Romans 1:4), to an inheritance incorruptible (lasting forever) and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved (‘guarded’ in the Greek) in heaven for you (see Hebrews 12:23), who are kept by the power of God (being transformed into His image ‘under the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus’ by minding the things of the spirit/Spirit, not the things of the flesh {Romans 8} compare with Colossians 3:3) through faith (living our lives in the ‘living hope’ of glory… which is to say ‘faith energized by loving action’ - Galatians 5:6) for salvation (beyond just being redeemed; to that of a living soul being restored back to its original purpose; the lost image of God… for the first time ever being fully manifest in the Last Days in those being caught up and then glorified, in a twinkling of an eye in the First Fruits’ offering {of the living only}, in answer to Revelation 3:10… or those of the Harvest of the living/surviving Christians who had been left on the Earth at the Manchild/Firstfruits offering (catching up), who then as a consequence had to faithfully endure the Great Temptation, who then in like manner as the Manchild are then caught up in the air at the Last Trump, along with the faithful dead raised out from among the dead in the First Resurrection and are glorified in a twinkling of an eye) ready to be revealed in the last time (which is to say that the Firstfruits offering comes towards the middle of the Tribulation, just before the great ‘hour of temptation’ and then comes the ripened living in the full Harvest towards the end of the Last Days/7-year Great Tribulation). In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while (while we have what Paul refers to as brief moments of light affliction - 2nd Corinthians 4:17:18), if need be (if our spiritual condition requires it, or God further wills it), you have been grieved by various trials (Why?), that the genuineness of your faith (might be assayed, to assess the state of the soul, with intent to purify the soul).....
