On Day 144 of our "Bible in a Year" journey, we begin the book of Job with chapters 1-3. Job, a righteous man, faces unimaginable loss as Satan tests his faith with God’s permission. Despite his grief, Job worships but soon laments his suffering, setting the stage for deep questions about pain and God’s purposes.

Questions:
1. Job’s initial response to loss in chapters 1-2 is worship and submission—how does his reaction challenge us to consider what it means to trust God’s sovereignty when faced with inexplicable suffering?

2. The heavenly scene in chapter 1 reveals Satan’s challenge and God’s permission—how might this perspective prompt us to reflect on the mystery of divine purpose behind trials, even when God remains silent?

3. Job’s raw lament in chapter 3 expresses deep anguish—how does his honesty invite us to wrestle with the tension between voicing our pain and holding fast to faith in God’s goodness?
