SECRETS OF THE SCRIPTURES

By Dr Mmachukwu Kingsley

Power part 1

Rev 11:3:
"3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth."

If you are a prophet you should have power. The prophetic ministry is the most dangerous ministry. Without the power of God it becomes even more risky. Those prophets who remain true to their god and their calling are normally rejected, reviled and often unalived . The Bible does not mention that priests or scribes are at risk of being injured on account of their service to God but it does mention this about prophets .

Luk 13:34:
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

Jerusalem is noted as a city that kills prophets .

Elijah would have been killed by Jezebel but fortunately he run away and preserved his life.

1Kin 19:3:
And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

It is very okay to run away when being persecuted. Jesus taught as much.

Mat 10:22-23:
"22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come."

At this point Elijah was probably at the lowest point of his life and ministry. What did he do? He resolved to seek God.

1Kin 19:8:
"8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God."

Elijah trekked for approximately one month and ten days. Knowing what manner of man he was, I am convinced that in those 40 days and nights, he was praying continuously and seeking the face of God. It was probably this prolonged period of crying out to God that produced his subsequent divine encounter in Mount Horeb. Probably by the time he arrived he had already prayed down the solution to his situation

Most often prayer precedes encounter and prayer is required for empowerment . Great prayer produces great encounter.

When Elijah returned from the mountain he was a completely different man. From that point he carried on his ministry freely and fearlessly despite the fact that both still on the throne.
He even confronted a hub and pronounced judgment on him and Ahab kudos do anything. Contrast this to the Fate of the prophet Micaiah in the very next chapter.

PRAYERS

O Lord grant me the grace and the strength to tarry long in Your presence.

Eph 6:18:
"18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

Father give me a heart that hungers and thirsts for You continually.

Ps 42:1:
"1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

Lord by your Spirit and enable me to never give up in seeking You fervently all the days of my life.

Luk 18:1:
"1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;"

Ps 55:16-17:
"16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice."

Lord give me Your power. Help me to walk in divine power.

Luk 24:49:
"49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."
