The 65th Match of Men’s Tata IPL-2025 was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow on 23rd May, 2025. In this match Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs. In this match Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Sunrisers Hyderabad while batting first scored 231 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs and gave target of 232 runs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win. In reply Royal Challengers Bengaluru were all out at the score of 189 runs only in 19.5 overs and lost the match by 42 runs.
While batting first Sunrisers Hyderabad started very well and the openers gave the team fast start and added 54 runs in 3.6 overs only. Abshiekh Sharma was first to go out in the fourth over of the innings caught by Philip Salt of the bowling of Lungi Ngidi. He played very aggressively and scored quickfire 34 runs from 17 balls hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes.
In the very next fifth over Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Travis Head who came back in this game after brief illness. He was second to go out caught by Romario Shepherd. He scored only 17 runs from 10 balls hitting 3 fours.
Then Ishan Kishan with Heinrich Klaasen batted cautiously and added 48 runs from 27 balls for the third wicket and to some extent consolidated the innings. But Heinrich Klaasen was removed by Suyash Sharma caught by Romario Shepherd and contributed 24 runs from 13 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Ankit Verma played a gem of innings of 26 runs from 9 balls hitting 1 four and 3 sixes but Krunal Pandya sent him back to pavilion caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Nitesh Kumar Reddy was next to go out after scoring 4 runs only caught by Krunal Pandya of the bowling of Romario Shepherd. Abhinav Manohar contributed brisk 12 runs and was removed by Romario Shepherd.
Then Ishan Kishan with Pat Cummins added quickfire unbeaten 43 runs from 18 balls for the 7th wicket and helped the team to reach to mammoth score of 231 runs.
Ishan Kishan played a gem of innings and top scored with not out 94 runs from 48 balls hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes. Pat Cummins made 13 runs from 6 balls and also remained not out. SRH batted well and managed to score 231 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
In reply Royal Challengers Bengaluru started very well with both openers Philip Salt and Virat Kohli going on with great guns and added quickfire 80 runs in 6.6 overs only. Virat Kohli after scoring superb 43 runs from 25 balls hitting 7 fours and 1 six was first to go out caught by Abhishek Sharma of the bowling of Harsh Dubey.
Then Philip Salt with Mayank Agarawal added 40 runs from 22 balls for the second wicket and further consolidated the innings. At this stage RCB were 120 for 2 wickets in 10.4 overs and it looked that RCB will chase the target very easily.
Mayank Agarawal was second wicket to fall caught by Ishan Kishan of the bowling of Nitish Kumar Reddy after scoring 11 runs from 10 balls hitting 1 four. At the score of 129 runs Philip Salt also got out after contributing quickfire 62 runs from 32 balls hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Then Captain Jitesh Sharma with Rajat Patidar added 44 runs from 26 balls for the fourth wicket and further consolidated the innings. But Rajat Patidar was run out after contributing 18 runs from 16 balls hitting 1 four. Romario Shepherd went back without scoring any run and was caught and bold by Eshan Malinga.
After fall of Jitesh Sharma who made 24 runs RCB collapsed from 174 for 3 in 15.4 overs to 189 all out in 19.5 and lost the match by 42 runs. The lower order batting miserably failed with none of the batsmen reaching to double figures. Krunal Pandya contributed 8 runs and Tim David could make only one run.
Pat Cummins took 3 wickets and Two wickets were taken by Eshan Malinga. One wicket each was taken by Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey and Nitish Kumar Reddy. RCB managed to score 189 runs all out in 19.5 overs and lost the match by 42 runs. Ishan Kishan was given the Player of the Match Award.
