I have tried three colour and four colour flashlights from various suppliers and so I was interested to see what this new model from Odepro has to offer. I have already reviewed a very similar model from Odepro, but this new one offers greatly enhanced power and range and has a zooming feature

I received the 54 mm x148 mm 240g flashlight in a branded and robust plastic storage case, a cut above the lightweight generic case provided with some other hunting flashlight kits.

Inside was the torch itself, two 18650 rechargeable Batteries, an external Battery Charger, Rail and Scope mounts, a Pressure Trigger Switch and Red, Green, infrared Red and White LED Units. An excellent user guide was also included. Build quality was first rate, with the flashlight made from heavy duty aluminium alloy and everything else equally robust and well made.

This set consists of a twist to zoom IPX8 waterproof torch with four interchangeable screw-in coloured LED modules – white, green and infrared housed in separate containers with the red module already installed. The kit also comes with rail and 30mm Picatinny barrel mounts to secure the torch to a rifle, bow or other tubular object. Also included is a pressure switch which replaces the end cap off/on button with a low noise soft touch switch. The flashlight is powered by a single 18650 3000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery which is recharged through the supplied external charging unit, there is no charging port on the torch itself. The inclusion of a spare battery in the kit is a useful bonus.

When used as a regular torch it is not too exciting. The ‎800 Lumen power output is relatively low tion although there is a 15° - 60° Zoom, there are three light output levels, strobe and SOS modes. However this torch comes into it own when used as it is designed to be with the coloured LEDs – these are actual LEDS and not just filters or gels. The four screw-in LED modules operate in the following ranges with a maximum light throw of 452m (depending on the colour):

Green LED 4.1 hrs runtime, 413m range

Red LED 3.3 hrs runtime, 343m range

White LED 1.6 Hrs runtime, 370m range

Infrared 850nm 2.0 Hrs runtime

So what is the invisible to the eye Infrared LED used for? Lots of hunters and wildlife enthusiasts use infrared viewers which can be used with this module the output of which is much more powerful than those included with the typical i/r viewer.

Each beam features a clearly defined central hotspot to aid aiming.

The two included scope mounts seem fine. One is a rather simple single screw unit, probably designed for bow or general use. The other is made from metal and features a quick-release mount best suited for use on a hunting rifle and will work with 30mm Picatinny/Weaver rails (whatever they are).

Here in the UK with the use of firearms severely restricted the appeal of this flashlight may be limited but naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts may still find a use for it and for them, the £99.92 will not seem excessive.
