Shaquille O’Neal Promises to Send Two Pairs of Reebok Sneakers to Fallon’s Audience Full of U.S. Service Members

FALLON: “I want to talk about your new Netflix series. I love — you’re always doing something different, something new all the time. Here you are. It’s called ‘Power Moves.’ It follows you as the president of Reebok Basketball. Now, I know you signed with Reebok, I remember, from the ‘Shaq attack’ days. You were like — you had the endorsement deal with Reebok. And that’s a big deal. How old were you then?”
O’NEAL: “I think I was 19, 20. I don’t know. That was so long ago.”
FALLON: “Yeah, but you got your own sneaker. And we actually brought one, a replica. This is your size, size 22.”
(Audience oohs)
Look at this. This is compared to my face. Look at these.”
O’NEAL: “You know what I am going to do since I’m the owner? Is there a sergeant or a a lieutenant or a captain here?
(Cheering and Applause)
I want — I want everybody that’s here to write their name on a piece of paper, give it to this young lady, and I’m going to send you a pair. I can do that ’cause —

FALLON: “Yeah, we’ll get everyone’s info. Oh, my gosh. I wear — I wear size 12, by the way.”
O’NEAL: “I didn’t say you. I said them.
(Laughter)

FALLON: “But let’s talk about this. I love that you got in to this, and this whole show on Netflix is fantastic. And so, you’ve taken what you’ve learned from the sneaker shoe industry and you’re like, ‘How do we make Reebok number one again? And let’s do this.’”
O’NEAL: “You know, for me, growing up a military child, you know, father always taught me to accept a challenge, meet the challenge head on, and try to overcome the challenge. So, you know, Adidas bought Reebok out, kinda pushed them away. So when Authentic Brands Group had the ability to buy Reebok, I wanted to, you know, step up to the challenge of bringing Reebok back. I can remember, we were never number one, but never number three. I remember it was always Michael and Nike, but myself and Reebok. And then we signed Allen Iverson and we signed some other players. We were always right there. And then it kind of disappeared away. So, you know, now that we’re back, I wanted to see if I could help, you know, bring that back.”
FALLON: “You’re going to bring it back, bud. I know you are. But this is the one right here. These look cool. Look at these new jams. See, this is what I’m talking about. See how it’s evolve — yeah.
(Audience oohs)
