Tripping on Travel: Quinebaug River Water Trail, Putnam, CT

On May 14, 2025 I arrived at the Quinebaug River Water Trail as it passes through the town of Putnam, Connecticut. This is the point north from the kayak take-out point that I featured in my prior video off Rt 101 in Pomfret. The Quinebaug River today was high. And probably still is after the rainfall received a week later in the Massachusetts and Connecticut areas. Because of people present, I recorded the 2.7K video footage at the north end of Simonzi Park while avoiding the area where kayakers typically launch onto the river. I left the audio captured from the scene in the video intact. It's a mix of natural sounds, the sound of traffic of the nearby Kennedy Drive, as well as sounds from some nearby development that is going on in the area. I next went to the other end of the area's river trail where no people were present, and beneath the pedestrian bridge, to take a look. The sound of nearby traffic is still apparent. Kennedy Drive is a main route for entering and leaving the center of the old mill town.
