No jobs in US, UK, Canada for foreign students: Harvard grad warns IITians

Studying abroad may no longer guarantee a dream job. Rajesh Sawhney, a Harvard Business School alumnus and Gurgaon-based entrepreneur, has issued a blunt warning to Indian students—especially IIT graduates—about the declining job prospects for international students in the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Sawhney stated, “There are no jobs in USA, Canada and UK for international students. Honeymoon is over, parents should think twice before spending crores on expensive education.”

For years, students believed that a master’s degree abroad was a fast track to a $200K tech job. But that pathway, he says, is no longer viable. With shrinking job markets, tighter visa rules, and rising competition, even top graduates from elite Indian institutions are finding it hard to land jobs overseas.

Sawhney’s warning comes as a wake-up call to thousands of students and parents planning big-ticket foreign education investments.
