Judges 21 - Embracing the New: Becoming Kings and Priests in a Season of Divine Transformation

Amen. Thank you, Lord, that Your divine will is being done in this season. This is not a time to cling to what’s familiar, because everything familiar is becoming distant. I want to bring you into the new — a new realm of understanding, authority, and identity. I thank God for everything He’s doing here among us, and I pray that if we have found favor in His sight, He will continue to lead us, guide us, and direct us as we lean not on our own understanding.

Leaning Not on Your Own Understanding

This is one of the hardest lessons for all of us to grasp. God says, “Lean not on your own understanding, but acknowledge Me in all your ways.” This means pressing into Him, letting Him lead and guide us — even when our minds, intellects, and natural reasoning tell us otherwise. We have been given great intellects, the ability to analyze and comprehend, but the mind is only part of who we are. It belongs to the soulish realm. God calls us to submit all of that under the spirit, because He can do things through us that we could never do relying on our own understanding alone.

Yesterday, I had a ministry assignment that perfectly illustrated this principle. A woman reached out with a serious family problem. At first glance, based on the information she provided, it seemed obvious what to pray for. But I pressed into the Lord, asking Him to show me what I wasn’t seeing. The problem was deep and complex — not just the external symptoms she described, but something far greater inside her that was preventing her from taking responsibility and moving forward.

When we finally connected on a call, the Holy Spirit ignited within me. I told her, “You think you’re here for this problem, but I’m telling you, you’re actually here for this.” That moment of revelation brought radical transformation, salvation, and deliverance from a demon she didn’t even know she had. This is why we must put down the familiar, the strength of our intellect, and yield to the Spirit first. Only then can we truly discern the deeper issues and go to war effectively.

The Power of Yielding and Surrender

Yielding is a spiritual posture — a willingness to stop, look left and right, and wait for the right moment to proceed. Sometimes life gives us a four-way stop, sometimes a three-way, and sometimes just a yield sign. If we rush through without looking, we risk crashing into opposition and chaos. But when we yield fully to God, He raises our game, increases our authority, and begins to show us things we have never seen before.

God invites us to come up higher, into His presence, to see great and unknowable things that we could never know on our own. This invitation is real and present — not theoretical. But it requires radical surrender and yieldedness. As we step into new levels of authority, every promotion comes with a deeper call to surrender ourselves completely to Him.

Establishing Altars and Becoming Burning Coals

Recently, our group has been focusing on the idea of becoming altars — personal altars set apart for God. Nellie shared a powerful word about “burning coals of fire,” a cleansing and purging fire that God uses to remove iniquity and restore our foundations. This fire cleanses our very DNA and brings forth the fullness of our identity as kings and priests.

“I am bringing forth the fullness of your identity as a king and a priest. Not a half measure, not a quarter measure, but the full measure.”

As kings, we reign and rule; as priests, we serve the Lord. This is our true identity — and God is bringing us into the fullness of it. Even though the authority has always been there, many of us have not understood or used it because we didn’t recognize who we truly are. Now is the time to step into that authority with clarity and confidence.

Lessons from the Last Chapter of Judges: The Danger of Having No King

The Lord directed me to read the last chapter of Judges, and what I found was astounding. The story is full of depravity and chaos because “in those days, Israel had no king.” They were ungoverned, lawless, and every man did what was right in his own eyes. This led to horrific consequences — a family tragedy, civil war, and near annihilation of a tribe.

The Israelites had vowed never to give their daughters in marriage to the tribe of Benjamin, which caused even more division. They took harsh oaths, slaughtered thousands, and then tried to trick God by kidnapping women to preserve the tribe. This story is a mirror of what happens when people reject godly authority and rely on their own flawed human logic.

We see here the importance of kings and priests — divinely appointed leaders who rule and serve in alignment with God’s will. When those roles are absent, chaos and destruction follow. This is why God is preparing us to be kings and priests, to restore law, order, righteousness, and justice to our land.

Restoring Righteousness and Justice

God is calling a remnant — a people who will consecrate themselves as altars, who will yield fully to Him, and who will reign and rule in His kingdom. This is not about political power or human strength. It’s about spiritual authority and influence flowing from a life set apart for God.

We are entering a season where God will increase our influence in governmental realms — local councils, mayors, governors, and even national leaders will seek wisdom and guidance from those who walk in His Spirit. This influence will manifest both openly and behind the scenes, as God uses us to bring truth, justice, and righteousness back into the earth.

Walking in the Authority of Kings and Priests

To walk in this authority, we must be consecrated vessels. We cannot rely on our own strength or understanding. We must press into God daily, yield to His Spirit, and allow His presence to guide every step. When we do, the light of His glory will shine through us, and we will begin to see things beyond human comprehension.

We are called to be holy priesthoods, righteous in His sight, carrying the mantle of kingship and priesthood. This is not about feeling worthy or capable — it’s about saying “yes” to God and allowing Him to work through us. Our identity and authority come from Him, not from how we feel.

Practical Steps to Embrace Your Identity
Consecrate your life daily: Make your life an altar unto the Lord, set apart for His purposes.
Press into God’s presence: Spend time seeking His guidance, asking “What am I not seeing?”
Yield fully to His Spirit: Don’t rush ahead relying on your intellect alone; wait for His direction.
Walk in faith and obedience: Trust God’s leading even when it challenges your comfort zone.
Engage in spiritual warfare: Stand against darkness with the authority God has given you.
Unite with others: Come together corporately as altars of fire, increasing your power and influence.
The Season of Change and Expansion

We are in a season of radical change. Everything around us is shifting — our old comfort zones are being challenged to make way for new realms of faith and authority. God is stretching us beyond the limits we have set for ourselves, inviting us into what He calls the “miracle zone.”

Just as I experienced recently when I bought new orthotic supports for my feet, God is giving us new “supports” to walk in new realms. The discomfort of stepping out of the familiar is only momentary, and soon the new realm becomes our new comfort zone.

This process requires trust — deep, limitless trust in God’s goodness, mercy, and faithfulness. His presence is with us every step of the way, and His glory will shine on our paths, surpassing our finite understanding.

Faith, Wisdom, and the Call to Action

God’s promise is clear: if we ask, He will pour out supernatural wisdom to rule and reign effectively. This wisdom is essential for accurately applying His Word and navigating the challenges ahead. The days of shame and powerlessness are ending. We are rising from the ashes to take our rightful place in the kingdom of God.

We must walk in obedience, speak with godly wisdom, and depend on His love and power. This is how we move the needle forward and bring revival fire to our land. The enemy may rage, but we are equipped and called to push back with the authority of kings and priests.

Letting Go of the Familiar, Embracing the New

It’s time to release the familiar — the old ways, the old understandings — and embrace the new things God is doing. This requires courage, faith, and a willingness to be stretched beyond what we thought possible. But the reward is great: a life filled with God’s presence, power, and purpose.

Remember, this is not a passive journey. When God calls, we respond boldly: “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”

Conclusion: The Journey of Becoming Kings and Priests

We are on a journey together, growing and being transformed daily. None of us have arrived yet, but every step draws us closer to the fullness of who God created us to be — kings and priests in His kingdom.

As we consecrate ourselves, yield to His Spirit, and walk in obedience, God will reveal great and unsearchable things to us. We will see the hidden things between the lines, discern the spirit of the times, and carry influence that brings righteousness and justice to our communities and nations.

Let us be the generation that restores God’s kingdom on earth. Let us live as altars of fire, united in purpose and passion, burning away the darkness and shining forth the glory of God. And as we do, may our mouths proclaim with one voice, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”

Praise God. Let’s step boldly into this new season — together.
