US President Donald Trump has unveiled the $175 billion "Golden Dome" shield plan. Trump said he has selected the design for the Golden Dome missile shield system to protect America against any attacks. Trump said the missile shield should be operational in three years and also announced $25 billion in initial funding for the plan. He said it would eventually cost around $175 billion. Upon his return to the White House in January, Trump announced his plan for a system that is capable of countering next-generation aerial threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles from land, sea and space. Russia and China have slammed the Golden Dome plan and have called it deeply destabilising, adding that it risks turning space into a battlefield.
