Silencers Off NFA! But Big Beautiful Bill Keeps SBRs

President Trump's so-called big beautiful bill has passed the Rules Committee in the House of Representatives and will go to the floor for a full vote.

After pressure from gun rights organizations and in spite of the protestations of gun control advocates the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) was included in the text of the bill, eliminating silencers/suppressors from the NFA entirely.

However, the Short Act, which would see short-barreled rifles (SBRs) taken off the NFA as well was not included.

This could still be added if it passes in the Senate and survives reconciliation between the two bills, which also supposes that they both get something passed.
