On episode 2320 of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan and comedian Tom Segura briefly discussed something that caught my attention — Kratom, a controversial, over-the-counter drug with opioid-like effects. While some see it as a harmless herbal supplement or legal alternative to harder drugs, the truth is much darker.

Kratom is NOT regulated by the FDA and is far from “safe.” It's become a gateway substance for many, especially those trying to escape addiction — and that includes someone very close to me.

This video is a bit different from my previous videos— because this time, it involves a personal encounter with this stuff head on.My own mom has been addicted to Kratom for the last 3 years. While she wasn’t drinking or abusing prescription pills anymore, Kratom became her new crutch — and recently, that addiction led to a seizure so severe that she was hospitalized for over a week. Her body became dependent on this so-called “legal” drug, and we were blindsided by how dangerous it truly is.

💊 What is Kratom, and Why Is It So Dangerous?
* Kratom is derived from a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. In low doses, it acts as a stimulant. In higher doses, it mimics opioids — providing pain relief and euphoria, but also bringing the same risk of addiction and withdrawal.
* Many use Kratom to “self-treat” opioid withdrawals, anxiety, or depression — but this only leads to a new form of dependency.
* The FDA has issued warnings against Kratom, citing reports of seizures, liver damage, and even death.
* Kratom is not approved for any medical use and is banned in multiple countries — yet it remains shockingly easy to get in the U.S.

🇺🇸 Addiction in America:
* 27.2 million people in the U.S. struggle with a drug use disorder.
* 28.9 million wrestle with alcohol addiction.
* Over 7.5 million are battling both drug and alcohol dependencies simultaneously.
* And the numbers are rising, especially among young adults — often starting with “harmless” substances like Kratom.
