Walking into the Turkish Mountains… and Getting Stuck Next to a Military Base

In this episode, we begin our journey walking across Türkiye by heading into the mountains from Izmit. What started as a beautiful hike quickly turned intense when we got stuck in a bog next to a military base, with helicopters flying overhead and no way out for over an hour.

We experienced snow in the mountains, trekked through remote Turkish villages and farms, and met an incredible solo female traveller Hiker Taina, who’s walking around the world on a 4-year adventure — and now she’s joining our walk!

This is just the start of our long-distance hike through Türkiye, and things are already getting wild.
