In the dystopian future of 1997, Manhattan has been turned into a giant maximum-security prison. When Air Force One is hijacked and the President crashes inside, there's only one man who can get him out: Snake Plissken—an ex-soldier turned convict with an eye patch, a bad attitude, and nothing to lose.

He's given 24 hours to pull off the rescue. If he fails, his head explodes—literally. Snake navigates gang-controlled streets, meets weird outlaws, and fights to survive in a lawless, decaying New York.

🔥 Quick Trivia!

Kurt Russell based Snake’s voice on Clint Eastwood.

The "futuristic" 1997 was imagined in 1981—wild, right?

The city scenes were filmed in East St. Louis after a real fire left it looking post-apocalyptic.

Director John Carpenter wrote the script after Watergate, inspired by distrust in government.

With its gritty vibe, synth soundtrack, and cult-icon antihero, Escape from New York became a sci-fi classic—and made Snake Plissken a legend. 🐍🗽
