HK CC9 Review: Micro-Compact 9mm with Full-Size Shootability and HK Reliability | GunBroker
The HK CC9 is a micro-compact 9mm handgun that offers the reliability and durability that Heckler & Koch is known for. It also has the shootability you expect from a good full-size gun
I’m Adam Winch with HK and Defenders USA and we’re here on the shooting range testing out the HK CC9. CC9 stands for concealed carry 9. So, let’s talk about the many features of the HK CC9 handgun.
It’s purposely built for concealed carry 9 but has the HK durability, reliability, and more importantly, the shootability of this gun. It’s a micro compact pistol, so it conceals very well. Furthermore, the grip texturing on this is excellent for gripping. A lot of effort was put into the grip texturing so if you are carrying against bare skin, you don’t want something that’s going to tear up your skin or your shirt. Its set up so it grips well in the hand but it doesn’t tear up the skin.
It comes with a 12-round magazine and a 10-round magazine. You can either get it flush or you can get the extended area so the pinky can go on there well and hold the gun well. All the safety and the controls, like the mag release, the slide release, are both on the right side and the left side so it’s meant for ambidextrous use. So weather you are a left-handed or right-handed, you’ll have no problem using the HK CC9 handgun.
What’s important to me as a shooter is the length of pull on the trigger. The HK trigger, unlike all other micro-compact handguns, HK smartly moved the trigger slightly more forward so the length of pull from the front to the back is the same size as a duty-sized gun.
I personally carry a full-size gun everywhere I go, and the HK CC9 has the same length of pull so it’s like shooting a full-sized gun. This is built to grip with a real grip. The CC9 in this video doesn’t have the large backstrap but if you add it because you might be a big dude with big old honking hands or long piano playing fingers, the extended backstrap actually lengthens out further from the front to the back of the trigger. So, it doesn’t change the grip angle, it simply adds to the length of pull. Which allows big hands to shoot a micro-compact gun well, which is a hard thing for big hands with small guns. This is a big selling point of the HK CC9 pistol!
Furthermore, the trigger is extremely short take up and extremely short reset which gives the gun a very crisp break. So when you shoot the HK CC9 you’ll realize how crisp and clean the trigger is. It’s a fantastic shootable gun.
The HK Reliability
HK put almost 800,000 rounds of testing on the HK CC9, and all the stuff you would use for military specifications. Furthermore, we added the American lint test because we carry these guns in our belly, so we get our fat, gunk, lint, whatever else into it. They test it with that, and it works perfectly. Resulting in a very reliable HK durability but also the shootability of what you need in a good full-size gun.
