"Monks develop right concentration. A monk who is concentrated understands things as they really are."
-The Buddha, in the Eightfold Noble Path

Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
One of them is right concentration, which is 1 translation. It is often also translated as right meditation. In either case, the idea here is that we develop the ability to have a mind that is focused and stays on track. Of course, in today's modern world there are more distractions than ever before, and it is difficult for many people to stay on track and to stay focused. So through the discipline of meditation and practicing this we can learn how to simultaneously relax the mind and keep it present at the same time. This is a wonderfully important skill, especially in this modern, very fast-paced and very distracting world.
