(Larry Johnson discusses the very important issues leading up to the Ukrainian conflict that go back at least 35 years. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Russian military significantly decreased, yet NATO hyped that Russia was a significant threat and NATO should expand right up to the Russian border. NATO operated within Ukraine as though Ukraine was a member of NATO, yet without Article 5 protection. The US Military-Industrial Complex wanted to sell more weapons and the CIA was happy to provide the rational for expanding NATO to stop Russia, although Russia had no interest in expanding. Trump was responsible for increasing the size of the military in Ukraine by a factor of four in his first term, so it is not correct to blame this all on Biden. This conflict could be brought to a close more quickly if Trump would admit that he made a mistake in his first term and would then work with Russia to resolve things.
