Alex Pereira HEADING TO THAILAND to train with the GOAT, JON JONES!!
Alex Pereira Joins Jon Jones in Thailand for Surprise Training Camp and Reality Show Cameo
Chiang Mai, Thailand — In a move that’s set the MMA world abuzz, UFC knockout artist Alex "Poatan" Pereira has reportedly flown to Thailand to link up with former light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones, who is currently in Southeast Asia filming a reality show titled “Warrior’s Path.”
The unlikely duo is training out of a private Muay Thai camp just outside Chiang Mai, where Jones has set up base for the next month. According to MMA coach and insider Ramon Velasquez, a longtime friend of Pereira’s conditioning coach Pliio Cruz, the collaboration has been in the works for several weeks.
“Jon and Alex have had mutual respect for years,” Velasquez told FightWorld Insider. “Coach Pliio mentioned to me last month that there was talk of Alex heading out there not just to sharpen his Muay Thai, but to get some unique looks with Jon. It’s not just a training camp — it’s part of a bigger project.”
The “bigger project” is Warrior’s Path, a reality series being produced by a US-Thai media group focusing on elite fighters immersing themselves in traditional martial arts. Jones, serving as both co-host and participant, is training alongside local champions while showcasing the mental and spiritual transformation behind martial arts mastery. Pereira’s surprise appearance is expected to be part of a late-season episode.
Velasquez hinted that Pereira isn’t just in Thailand to pad his striking arsenal.
“There’s talk of him exploring a jump to heavyweight,” he said. “Training with someone like Jon gives him insights you just can’t get elsewhere. And Thailand? That’s the spiritual home for striking. It’s the perfect storm.”
Though there’s no official footage yet, locals have reported sightings of Pereira and Jones sparring at Tiger Muay Thai-affiliated locations and doing early-morning conditioning runs through the misty hills of Chiang Mai.
UFC President Dana White has not commented on the reports, but fans are already speculating about potential crossover fights — or even a documentary release to follow the training saga.
For now, the world watches and waits as two of the sport’s most dangerous men join forces in one of the most sacred places in combat sports history.
