Pope Leo XIV was inaugurated as pontiff in Mass at St Peter's Square.

Leo was given the Ring of the Fisherman by a cardinal, symbolising his role and its tradition, which has roots to Saint Peter.

World leaders including US Vice-President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were among the congregation.
