Son of David

The daughter that I am blessed with told her mother this week that the chicken was gas. Those of you who know know that in that context, it means that the chicken was really, really good. Now that reminded me of when my grandmother used to say I was cooking with gas. That doesn't mean the same as the chicken is gas. And then that reminded me of when I have gas, which is different from both of them, as well as when I need to go get gas, which is different from all three of them.

Context matters, and it matters when we read the Bible; it definitely matters today because there are two desperate men who exclaimed to Jesus and called Him the Son of David. What does that actually mean, since that phrase is used 24 different times in the Bible? Do they all mean the same thing, or is it like what I described with the gas?

Let's discover it together today as we learn about the “Son of David.”

--- Matthew 9:27-31
