The Last Of Us: Part 1 | No safe place for children and channeling RDR2
Gameplay Part 3
In a ravaged civilization, where infected and hardened survivors run rampant, Joel, a weary protagonist, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone. However, what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal cross-country journey.
In this playthrough we cover:
Chapter 5: Pittsburgh (Part 2):
After surviving the hotel courtyard ambush, Joel and Ellie continue their escape through Pittsburgh’s crumbling infrastructure. Pushing deeper into the city, they reunite with Henry and Sam, two brothers also trying to evade the Hunters. The group works together to cross rooftops, sneak through enemy-occupied zones, and fight their way through a flooded financial district. Along the way, Joel’s trust issues clash with Henry’s protectiveness over Sam, but a shared goal keeps them moving. Their escape turns desperate when they’re cornered by a military truck and chased to a bridge. With no other option, they leap into the water below—separated by chaos but bound by survival.
Chapter 6: The Suburbs:
Washed ashore near a coastal neighborhood, the group navigates an eerie, maze-like sewer system once inhabited by survivors led by a man named Ish. As they push through tight corridors and waterlogged tunnels, they fend off infected and solve cooperative puzzles to reunite after a temporary separation. The remnants of Ish’s story and a tragic classroom standoff paint a grim picture of lost hope. Emerging into the sunlight, they explore abandoned homes and have moments of calm—until a sniper opens fire from a distant house. Joel flanks the threat and uses the sniper’s vantage point to defend the others from Hunters and an armored truck. That night, just as hope surfaces, tragedy strikes: Sam turns infected, and Henry, devastated, takes his own life. The next morning, Joel and Ellie walk away in silence, the emotional weight heavy as ever.
Chapter 7: Tommy’s Dam:
Months later, Joel and Ellie arrive in Jackson County, Wyoming, seeking Joel’s brother Tommy. They find him at a functioning hydroelectric plant, where he and his wife Maria are helping rebuild a community. Reunited but distant, Joel reveals his plan to hand Ellie off to Tommy, believing his brother is better suited to keep her safe. Ellie, overhearing this, runs off, heartbroken. Joel and Tommy chase after her through the woods, eventually confronting her in a farmhouse. Ellie challenges Joel’s desire to leave her behind, forcing him to acknowledge their growing bond. After clearing out a group of raiders, Joel decides to stay with Ellie and continue their journey together. They ride out toward the next major step: the University of Eastern Colorado.
