The apostles didn’t recognize Jesus when he came up to them and talked to them after his ressurection . When we look at the account of the bible in the gospels we see that the apostles themselves after Jesus died kept his promise that he would come back after the third day but I’m in disbelief, they showed that they did not have faith, but until they invited Jesus, they saw who he really was and realized that he truly was the messiah

As Christian Apologist Sam Shamoun points out Jesus, walking away, had a significance because he was pointing out that if you do not recognize Jesus and have faith in his promise and never invite him, then you will never really know of your ignorance and faith leads to a potentially make you lose your salvation.
