While the world remains engulfed in whirlwinds of change it is perhaps even more important than at other times, to pause, and reflect on the blindspots that literally stare us in the face. In this case, the face of Xi Jinping, in the Kremlin and on Red Square, right next to Vladmir Putin.

Why is it a blindspot you ask? Because the ‘allies’ that won WWII, meaning the Europeans, Soviets, Brits, and Americans, are not talking to each other any longer, and the EU forbade its leaders to go and join the parade in Red Square, on May 9. Latter illustrating the breakdown of the post-WWII ‘order’, and a grand slow motion realignment taking shape.

In this Blindspot we argue that Xi Jinping’s presence at May 9 parade signifies the alliances that underpin the geo-strategic importance, and geopolitical weight of Eurasia. Add to that North Korean soldiers marching in the parade, and Putin personally thanking North Korean commanders, and the ongoing warmongering sounds from Europe, against Russia, sounds ever more feeble, and frantic.

We also ask why the world knows so little of the horrors China faced, via Japan, in its significant existential war that started in 1937. In actual fact, it is Xi Jinping’s presence at May 9 parade, and the fact that the Russian president indicated his willingness to attend China’s 80 year victory celebrations against Japan.

To take stock if you will, of bloodied waters under the bridge, and the tonnages of armaments, missiles, bullets, artillery shells, drones, hypersonic missiles, counter missile missiles, counter drone drones, tanks, motorbikes, armoured personnel carriers, to name but a few things armed forces, terror forces, rebel forces, militias, gangs and bands of armed bandits, the world over, have been hurling at each other in the past year, alone. Staggering.
