He was appointed Commander of the Order of the Bath at a ceremony held at Westminster Abbey in May. The event was part of the 300th anniversary celebrations of the Order of the Bath.

The ceremony, which was held in a particularly grand manner, also saw the swearing of five new Knights Grand Cross. “The Order of the Bath was founded in 1725 by King George I, but its roots go back to the Middle Ages, when part of the knighthood ceremony included a symbolic bath to purify the soul.

This order is one of the highest military and civilian honors in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, and has been awarded to individuals with distinguished service over the past three centuries.
