True Freedom

Isn’t it ironic that the ways we tend to chase after freedom can become ways that make us feel trapped? For example, small children have a tendency to push for having their way in just about everything, even if their way may bring them harm. It is the responsibility of the parent to protect them from potential dangers they couldn’t otherwise foresee, because they are children. Many truths about freedom are found in the Bible. For example, John 8:32 (ESV) says, “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 (ESV) contends, “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” And of course, we rejoice in what Paul says in Galatians 5:1 (NIV), “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” So we clearly see that there is a connection between walking in truth and the Spirit, and being free in Christ! We are not burdened by the things of the world that are often brought on by poor choices.
