Stand4THEE Friday Zoom May 16th - Federal Challenge Update

The case Rebecca Shepard et al. v. Justin Trudeau et al. has been officially withdrawn. After reviewing the response and arguments from the Crown, it became clear that the Federal Court is not the right venue for this challenge.

The main point presented by Crown Counsel is that all political parties in Canada are private associations. Therefore, political parties make their own rules and answer only to their members and are not bound to the constitution nor to the legislative authorities under it. Because of this, the Federal court is not the rich jurisdiction to hear this matter.

While the case is not moving forward, we are not disappointed in the outcome. We now have this experience under our belt and have solid evidence that feeds into our next big action against the de facto role of Prime Minister!
