With all our differences, it is good to talk with Democrats who support some of President Trump's policies because there is room for mutual agreement. Tonight, the former Vice Chair of the Multnomah Democratic Party, Ciatta Thompson, will join Marty Kuhrt, Michaela Hammerson, and me for a Friday Night Rant.

Ciatta Thompson is an experienced leader, community advocate, and former candidate for Portland City Council in District 4. Born and raised on the East Coast, she now lives and works in Portland's South Waterfront neighborhood, where she brings her passion for inclusive city-building to both her professional and civic roles.

With a background in Urban Planning and Hospitality, Ciatta has built a career that bridges thoughtful design and community engagement. Over the last decade, she has co-founded two independent film production companies focused on uplifting the voices and stories of marginalized communities. She also currently manages the front desk team at one of the largest Marriott properties in downtown Portland, leading with empathy, efficiency, and a strong commitment to service.

During the 2024 campaign season, Ciatta was recognized by Willamette Week as a "standout candidate that speaks with clear-eyed candor," a reflection of her direct communication style and community-driven vision. She was elected by the Multnomah County Democrats to serve as 2nd Vice Chair, though her tenure was short-lived due to internal party controversy following her public comments on gender-related issues—an experience that underscored the complexities of navigating politics in a polarized era.
Ciatta remains dedicated to advocating for transparency, civil discourse, and equitable development in Portland. Her diverse career and community involvement continue to shape her approach to leadership and public service.
