A Kingdom of Priests

Isaiah 55:1-3 serves as a response from YAH to Israel's plea to Him in Psalms 85, a psalm of the sons of Korah. In Isaiah 55:3, YAH refers to "an everlasting covenant" that He will make with His servants -- YAH's new/everlasting covenant with the Israelites is detailed in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Jeremiah 32:37-42. YAH's covenant with David was/is sure as was/is His covenant with the Israelite nation to which David belongs, "for YAH has called you (Israel) as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when you were refused, says your Husband. For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. In a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on you, says YAH your Redeemer. For this is as the waters of Noah unto Me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, says YAH that has mercy on you." (Isaiah 54:6-10) Yes, YAH has promised to gather the Israelites/black slave descendants from the lands of our captivity/exile and be merciful toward us. Isaiah 49:8-13 "Thus says YAH, In an acceptable time have I heard you (Israel), and in a day of salvation have I helped you: and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; that you may say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places. They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for He that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall He guide them. And I will make all My mountains a way, and My highways shall be exalted. Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for YAH has comforted His people (Israel), and will have mercy upon His afflicted (Israel)." The everlasting Kingdom promised to David has also been promised to David's people, Israel (obviously). YAH's promises to David made to him through the prophet Nathan recorded in 2 Samuel 7 have nothing to do with that idol in the New Testament. It was Solomon who built YAH's house, the First Temple of Israel and when Solomon betrayed YAH and Israel, YAH said, "I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you (Jeroboam): but he shall have one tribe for My servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:" (1 Kings 11:32) YAH was merciful to Solomon in a way that He was not merciful to king Saul because He did not take the kingdom entirely from Solomon and his sons, which is why Hezekiah and Josiah--righteous kings of Israel--later went on to rule over Judah and Benjamin. Now, because of Israel's wickedness, the kingdom has been destroyed but our everlasting Kingdom, the everlasting Kingdom of YAH, David and Israel will be established. After the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37:1-14, YAH goes on to speak of David's everlasting reign over Israel in Ezekiel 37:24-25 and His everlasting covenant with Israel in Ezekiel 37:26. "Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the Father of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, The Spirit of YAH spake by me, and His word was in my tongue. The King of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of the Most High. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. Although my house be not so with YAH; yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although He make it not to grow." (2 Samuel 23:1-5) David seemed a little melancholy but he was definitely still hopeful in YAH's promises to him. YAH will keep His word to David and He will keep His word to the rest of Israel as well so while we may be melancholy, we must trust YAH and remain hopeful in Him no matter what.
