Let’s start with the similarities to the original Model 1854. You’ll still have the synthetic stock with a textured grip panel, the large loop lever, and the flat-face trigger. All of these features a side-load gate, and they also have the crossbolt safety. The barrels are threaded just like the original standard models, and they’re also shorter. The original series came with a 19-inch barrel, but this one is a 16-inch barrel, making it more compact and lighter.

Now, let’s talk about the differences. The esthetic is different. You’ll have an Armornite black finish on the receiver and barrel, and an anodized aluminum forend, which comes out-of-the-box. It also has 15 M-lock slots, so you can run accessories like lights, lasers, or what have you. The barrels are shorter, which is great if you’re in the thick brush while hunting, or for home defense. It’s also a lighter platform overall. It also comes with an H3 Hi-Viz front sight for great visibility in daylight or low-light conditions.

Another change is the Picatinny rail. The original models come with a 4.75-inch Pic-rail, but this one is a 10.5-inch Pic-rail. So, if you want to run a scout setup or a magnifier, you have the option to do that right out-of-the-box. It’s also offered in 357 Magnum, 45 Colt, and 44 Magnum. It has an 8+1 capacity.

There are a lot of variations in calibers and chamberings, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. Whether you’re looking to hunt or use it for home defense, the Smith Wesson Model 1854 Stealth Hunter platform is easy to use and learn. The scope mounted on the Model 1854 Stealth Hunter in the above video is not included.
