Make sure you follow for more Hell.

Breaking out of prison was just the beginning. In American Fugitive, we’re hitting the backroads, stealing cars, dodging the law, and trying to clear our name—one bullet-riddled back alley at a time. It’s a top-down, open-world chaos-fest with all the vintage grit of a late-night VHS rental. Modded for extra HD mayhem, because justice looks better in high resolution.

The cops want blood, the town’s gone crooked, and we’re bringing the heat.

Let’s raise hell.

Development:
American Fugitive was developed by Fallen Tree Games, a UK-based indie studio founded by two veteran developers, James Parker and Lewis Boadle. These two had previously worked on major titles like TimeSplitters and Crysis, and with American Fugitive, they wanted to blend their love of classic top-down games like the original Grand Theft Auto with modern physics, storytelling, and open-world mechanics.

The game was released in May 2019, and it was their love letter to the gritty, small-town crime dramas of the ‘80s and ‘90s—think The Fugitive, Dukes of Hazzard, and Breaking Bad. The goal was to create a retro crime thriller experience, with a strong narrative and that nostalgic, pixel-polished style, but wrapped in modern mechanics like destructible environments and fast-paced getaway action.

They built it using Unity, giving them the freedom to keep the camera top-down and the gameplay snappy while still delivering surprisingly deep mission design and physics-driven chaos.
