In this first installment of our Across the Amazon mini-series, we take a leap of faith, setting off from Coca, Ecuador, down the Napo River in an ambitious (and ill-advised) attempt to reach Iquitos, Peru.

But from the very beginning, our journey is riddled with missteps, misinformation, and misunderstandings—not to mention an attempted hijacking of our Africa Twin motorcycle at the Ecuadorian-Peruvian border.
