Pastor Derek Reimer Arrested and Denied Bail!

Derek Reimer, the courageous Pastor from Alberta who was criminally charged for protesting Drag Queen Story events at Calgary Public libraries was arrested again a few days ago! Even worse - I just heard from his lawyer that he has been denied bail, and therefore will be in jail until further notice.

This is a very unusual outcome, especially for a non-violent offender like Pastor Derek.

Since they arrested him Thursday evening he has spent the whole weekend in jail, away from his wife and newborn.

Apparently he showed up for his scheduled trial an hour early, and attended a rally that was organized for him there.

Mind you, this trial appearance he came early for was almost a month ago. No one said anything at that time. Now out of the blue - the evening before his important appeal date (which was last Friday) they arrested him for breaching house arrest conditions by attending that rally before his court appearance.

The idea that being an hour early for your court and attending a rally in your favour (also at court) is a breach of house arrest is outrageous! He had to be there, afterall.

The fact that they waited a month to arrest him, the day before his important appeal, leads me to believe this was designed to somehow foil his appeal!

Derek has spent the weekend in jail, and now he has been denied bail! Repeat car-jacking offenders seem to be able to get bail, but not politically active Pastors.

This kind of outrageous activity by the government needs to be checked!
