Canelo vs Crawford: Will it Be Better Than Mayweather-Pacquiao?

Ring Magazine has announced that the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford Ring Magazine super middleweight championship fight will occur on Saturday, September 13th, Turki Alalshikh tells The Ring's Mike Coppinger.

The Riyadh Season PPV event could be held in five locations: New York City, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas. This fight would be big in Vegas, Los Angeles, or New York.

I would rather this fight be in Vegas or LA. That would allow me to smoke some of the sticky, icky West Coast style. As for the fight itself, I don't know. Canelo and Crawford are making big money for this fight.

I'm hearing crazy money for both fighters. Will this fight live up to the hype? Will it be better than Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? I have no idea. Crawford is 37 years old and fighting Canelo in his birthday month.

Canelo will be 35 in June, and his body is showing a lot of wear and tear. At this stage in his career, Canelo isn't fighting tough fights, and I understand why. Floyd Mayweather would say, " He's earned the right to pick and choose who he wants to fight.

Terence Crawford has also earned the right to choose who he wants to fight. Time will tell if this fight lives up to the hype.

In other news, Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez tells The Ring that he's defending his Ring & WBC title against WBO super-flyweight world champion Phumelele Cafu on July 19th.

This bout is scheduled at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas. In other news, William Skull did an interview, saying Turki Alalshikh told him not to win the fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Essentially Sports says Skull told them he was instructed not to mistreat Canelo. However, he says he believes he won the fight. If you think you won the fight, Skull must have ignored the instructions to lose the bout.

Skull says in one breath that he was instructed to lose the fight, but in another, he says he did enough to win. Either way, I believe him.

Things like this happen in boxing all the time. Turki Alalshikh couldn't afford to have his plans for Canelo and Crawford ruined by Skull. In other news, Bill Haney was asked if the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia rematch will happen now that Ryan has lost to Rolly Romero.
