Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
The Buddha here is giving a a short teaching about right speech, and right speech means speaking truthfully. It also means. Not wasting people's time with unimportant speech, or speaking inappropriately, or out of anger, or in a way that divides or hurts people. So right speech is very important when we are walking the path of being the best version of ourselves that we can be, and it's something that we can bring mindfulness to every day of our lives.
