Galatians 4:8-31

In our study today the apostle Paul points out the futility of the redeemed saints placing themselves back under the bondage of the base and elemental things of this world. As we looked at last week, this refers to the Law, religious practices for the sake of looking pious, and even the idols of false, so called gods, to which the Gentiles (Galatians) were once enslaved. True freedom is only found in Christ. Trusting in the completed work of the cross, we are truly set free. He then draws out the symbolism of the story of Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Ishmael and Isaac. There is much to learn from this passage of the letter to the Galatians.
