On May 12, 2025, the Loa Janan district in Kutai Kartanegara Regency (East Kalimantan, Indonesia) was hit by severe flooding caused by heavy rains. Water levels reached up to 50 cm in some areas, inundating homes and streets. The village of Purwajaya was among the hardest hit, with floodwaters entering residential homes and disrupting daily life.

💧 Landslides further complicated the situation, particularly on Mount Loa Duri, where a major road between Samarinda and Tenggarong was blocked. Power outages occurred due to fallen utility poles.

Local authorities and emergency services, including BPBD Kukar, responded quickly to assist affected residents and begin infrastructure repairs
