For events with budgets over $10K, it's best to start the sponsorship process 6 months to a year (or more) before your event. This gives you ample time to build relationships with potential sponsors. Use this waiting period to keep them engaged by sending updates, holiday greetings, and reminders. The more you connect, the stronger the relationship will be when it's time to finalize the deal. For events with budgets under $10K, start less than 6 months out. If your event is 3 months or less away, focus on securing 3 to 4 local sponsors—or as many as needed to hit your goal.
