Exodus 34

1. New Stone Tablets (Exodus 34:1–4)
God tells Moses to chisel out two new tablets like the first, which Moses broke.

Moses prepares to meet God again on Mount Sinai, showing obedience and hope for restoration.

Key lesson: Even after failure, God gives second chances—but obedience is required to receive them.

2. God Reveals His Character (Exodus 34:5–9)
God proclaims His name and nature to Moses:

“The Lord, the Lord, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness...”

Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished.

Moses worships immediately and pleads for God's continued presence and forgiveness.

Key lesson: God’s character balances mercy and justice. Knowing Him more deeply leads to worship and intercession.

3. Covenant Renewal (Exodus 34:10–28)
God renews His covenant with Israel, promising to do wonders and drive out enemy nations.

He commands Israel to:

Tear down pagan altars and avoid idolatry.

Celebrate key feasts (Unleavened Bread, Weeks, and Tabernacles).

Keep the Sabbath and offer firstfruits.

God reaffirms Israel’s identity and responsibility as His holy people.

Moses writes all this down and fasts 40 days and nights during this encounter.

Key lesson: Covenant relationship requires obedience, separation from sin, and regular remembrance of God’s acts.

4. Moses’ Radiant Face (Exodus 34:29–35)
When Moses comes down from the mountain, his face shines from being in God’s presence.

The people are afraid, so Moses covers his face with a veil, removing it only when he speaks with God.

Key lesson: Being in God's presence transforms us. True spiritual encounters leave a visible impact.
