Why we honor moms on Mother’s Day.

Mothers can give birth. It takes a real woman to be a true mom. What is the measure of a true mother? There is a clear difference between being a mother and being a mom, especially these days.

It has been said that it takes a real man to be a dad, so it is true that it takes a real woman to be a mom. My wife Julie is one such mom. She has not had her own children; yet, she was born a true mom.

She is a true woman. She is strong. She is brave. She is motivated by love. She loves our granddaughter and grandson with the ferocity of a lioness who will protect her cubs from all predators even at the risk of her own life.

We have others in our assembly that are true women, mothers, wives, and grandmothers who are just as protective and nurturing to their families as Julie is to ours, such as Shirley, Sheryl, Kaytee, and Connie.

These moms deserve our love, devotion, praise, and protection. They should be esteemed as the true compasses, centers, and anchors of all our families. They would give their lives for us if they had to.
