We will be taking a look at the Fairlight CMI, an early digital synthesizer, sampler, and workstation. The instrument was released in 1979 and was popular with a number of major artists in the 1980s, including Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush. This iconic piece of equipment was developed by Tony Furse of Creative Strategies, Sydney Australia. It's original name was the Quasar M8. We will learn more about the instrument, hear some examples, and hear some great stories about the instrument and its development.
