On Feb 6, 2025, Illinois State Police tracked a vehicle linked to a Texas armed robbery to a Lexington gas station. When officers attempted to arrest the driver, 18-year-old Ryan Aeron Stanley Hurst from Arkansas, he pointed a gun at them, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Hurst was injured, treated, and released from the hospital. He now faces charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault. A second suspect, 19-year-old Joseph Martin Hernandez from Texas, was arrested unharmed. No officers were injured. ISP has released video footage for transparency, and the investigation continues.
