Pacific414 Pop Talk Watch Party Double Feature of Galaxy Quest and Tommy Boy

Welcome one and all to Pacific414 Pop Talk for Mother's Day Sunday, May 11th 2025!

During today's show, we will host a double feature watch party of two great laugh out loud comedies!

We'll start off with the Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman Star Trek film that isn't, Galaxy Quest.

In this sci-fi comedy adventure spoof, Allen, Weaver and Rickman play as fictional actors Jason Nesmith (Allen) Gwen DeMarco (Weaver) Alexander Dane who once played characters from a once popular sci-fi television series titled "Galaxy Quest" who while at a convention are mistaken by aliens from a far off planet as the galactic hero's that they once portrayed on television to save the universe from the evil Sarris played by Robin Sachs.

Released in theatres back in 1999 by Dream Works Pictures, the film is directed by Dean Parisot with a story by David Howard and screenplay credits going to David Howard and Robert Gordon.

This popular nod to the original Star Trek series also features Wings (NBC sitcom series not Discovery Channel series) and Monk television star
Tony Shalhoub as Fred Kwan, Daryl Mitchell as Tommy Webber, Sam Rockwell as Guy Fleegman, Enrico Colantoni as Mathesar, Justin Long as Brandon. a fan we all can relate to, with Missi Pyle as Laliari.

Our next featured comedy stars Saturday Night Live alum David Spade and Chris Farley in the 90's classic, Tommy Boy!

In this 1995 comedy released by Paramount Pictures, David Spade plays Richard while Chris Farley plays Tommy who must embark on an adventure after the passing of Tommy's father "Big Tom" Callahan played by Brian Dennehy, to save the family auto parts factory 'Callahan Auto' before it is sold by "Big Tom's" widow Beverly Barrish (Bo Derek) to a rival Midwest auto parts manufacture thus ending a family legacy.

Tommy Boy is written by Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner who's writing credits include Saturday Night Live, Coneheads, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Wayne's World 2, The Brady Bunch Movie and That 70's Show.

Tommy Boy is directed by Peter Segal and also stars Rob Lowe as Paul Barrish, Julie warner as Michelle with a special appearance from Dan Aykroyd.
