Thursday, May 8, 2025. Brooklyn, Lenapehoking (New York City) - Brooklyn College pro-Palestine students started an encampment to demand that Brooklyn College, the City University of New York (CUNY) divest from the Israel-USA genocide against Indigenous Palestinians.

Students said on Instagram, "CUNY, CUNY, you can't hide, we charge you with genocide!" "Anderson you can't hide, we charge you with genocide!"

Students said that the president of Brooklyn College, Michelle Anderson, and the Chancellor of CUNY, Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, called the notorious violent New York City Police Department's Strategic Response Group (SRG) to arrest peaceful students on the same day, May 8, 2025.

Students said on Instagram, "CUNY students HAVE TAKEN OVER THE EAST QUAD LAWN and demands Brooklyn College comply with the CUNY 5 Demands. As CUNY continues to fund and support genocide, and continues to refuse to drop the charges on their own students who have protested genocide, Brooklyn College and CUNY students demand 5 things: 1.) Disclose+Divest 2.) Boycott 3.) Solidarity 4.) Demilitarize 5.) A People’s CUNY
