The Eucharist as instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper

During the Last Supper with His Apostles Jesus did and said something seemingly kind of odd. He took bread and said “Take and eat, this IS My Body” Then he took the cup and said, “Drink from it, this IS My Blood” Huh? He couldn’t possibly have meant what He just said, right? Why didn’t Jesus just say what He really meant? Something like, “this bread represents or symbolizes My Body” or “this wine is like My Blood” He didn’t say these things because it’s not what He meant! Jesus changed bread into His Body and wine into His Blood – that’s why He said what He said!! Catholics rejoice as you are blessed to be called to the Supper of the Lamb just like the Apostles and consume the Body and Blood of our Lord!!
