AlphaFoxtrot 3.5in Romulus AF1911 Ported Pistol
Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Romulus Compact 3.5" – Compact Performance with a Purpose
The Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Romulus Compact brings a modern twist to the classic 1911 platform in a compact, carry-friendly package. Chambered in 9mm and featuring a ported 3.5-inch bull barrel, this pistol is built for control, versatility, and reliability in defensive, tactical, or range-driven applications.
Crafted from SUS416 stainless steel and finished in matte black, the Romulus Compact combines durability with a sleek aesthetic. The slide is milled for optics and comes with both RMR and RMSc footprint plates, allowing shooters to easily mount red dot sights without additional modification. In this evaluation, the pistol was paired with the new Olight Osight S optic, a crisp and rugged RMSc red dot that held zero throughout testing. A SureFire X300 weapon light was also added, taking full advantage of the pistol’s tactical rail.
The ported barrel setup, with a 1:10 twist rate, noticeably reduces muzzle rise and allows for faster follow-up shots, particularly in rapid strings of fire. At just under 7 inches in overall length, the Romulus Compact strikes a balance between concealability and shootability.
The frame features a textured black polymer grip with an integrated magwell, aiding in fast reloads and secure handling. The ambidextrous thumb safety is well executed, and the controls are positioned with both defensive use and competitive transitions in mind. Night Fision front sights come standard, offering enhanced visibility in low-light environments.
Included in the box are two magazines — a 17-round and a 20-round — providing extended capacity options right out of the gate.
This model follows up on the full-size 5" compensated Romulus previously reviewed on the RazorMP channel. https://rumble.com/v6rrayt-alphafoxtrot-romulus.html
That earlier version presented some minor concerns with a stiff mag release and an optic alignment issue that required shimming. In contrast, the 3.5" compact model showed marked improvements in both areas and performed without issue.
With an MSRP of $1,620, the Romulus Compact sits squarely in the premium carry pistol category. Its build quality, recoil management, and optic compatibility make it a compelling option for shooters looking to bridge the gap between a traditional 1911 feel and modern enhancements.
