A15b - Chaos in Canaan (Judges)

11

The period of the Judges is a time of decline and chaos in Israel: the Israelites enter a cycle of sin, oppression, repentance, salvation, and return to sin. God raises up judges who deliver the people from their oppressors; but while the first judges are successful, later judges increasingly fail in their role as leaders, so that "every man did what was right in his own eyes."
