Don't Let Your Soul Break Down & Vanish | Original Song & Poem Translation | Octavian Petrescu | TKP

This is a political song which, by definition, might ruffle some feathers. I hope it will help you discern a few details without spoiling your day. The song was inspired by the works and encouragement of two of my subscribers and by the poem which I translated. One subscriber made me curious and even encouraged me to explore the open tuning DADGBD in which this song is played. And the other exposed me to this remarkable poet, Octavian Petrescu.

The video is a short documentary which tries to bring forward a minuscule amount of the injustices we have to witness and choose to either confront or be silent about these days. Most of the issues we are facing today are related and they all point to the return of fascism on the national and international stages. Immoral governments and out-of-control for-profit conglomerates, working together, are destroying the very fabric of our societies. The tools at their disposal increased dramatically since WWII and, with the birth of the AI, it reached a tipping point.

Despite the things that you encounter
And if they bring you down and banish
You learn from it and then get louder.

That which out of the gound is sprouting
Right to the ground will then return
The only victories as earthling
Are but of our souls to earn.
